Whether or not to help

English

Whether or not to help someone depends on two aspects: 1. whether the other person needs it, and 2. whether I have the ability to help.

For the first point, my standard is: first, the other person must have made an effort themselves—they can't do nothing at all and just wait to be rescued. Also, the other person must actively seek help; otherwise, it's all considered "not needed."

For the second point, my standard is: evaluate based on 10% of my own capacity—anything beyond that threshold can be considered beyond my ability.

In summary: it's an urgent need for them, and a trivial effort for me—only in this situation should I help.

Starting from this standard, when doing good deeds, one must never seek recognition, so as to filter out helping behavior driven by "vanity."

Deutsch
