The Value of Getting Things Done
English
Many truths simply cannot be grasped through reading alone before you have experienced them firsthand.
For example, the development of many things is non-linear: growth in the early accumulation phase is very slow, but once a certain point is breached, it becomes exponential.
People can only think linearly, seeing only the "slow progress" of the early stage, assuming it will always be this way—and so they give up halfway.
Only after going through a complete "exponential explosion" can you understand how much of the competition that early slowness filtered out—and only then, the next time you take on something else, can you remain patient.
Deutsch
