Opinions yield no returns, only action does
English
I increasingly feel that opinions are of little significance. The main reason is that opinions cannot be verified.
The value of an opinion mainly comes from:
Influencing action
On one hand, after taking action there will be feedback, which is easier to verify. On the other hand, things are made through doing, not through thinking.
Ultimately, action has a "cost," which is why there is an opportunity to gain "returns." If you don't place a bet, how can you win money?
Before taking in any opinion, set a threshold:
How can it influence my behavior?
If it can change your behavior, then regardless of the outcome, it is positive. If it cannot, then no matter how reasonable it sounds, it is meaningless.
Use the real feedback brought by action to guide your life, rather than indulging in the false self-satisfaction of "now I know something else."
Deutsch
